Sutton to Sandycove Cycleway (S2S)

Segregated cycle lanes must be a priority to ensure safety of all cyclists.

Following my election in 2014, I co-proposed an initiative which established a new joint S2S committee between members of DLR CoCo and Dublin City Council which has been successful in coordinating planning by the two councils.

Following public consultation, resolution has been found for one of the route’s pinch points at Booterstown.

The plan for Booterstown to Seapoint is:

  • Improve cycle ways and footpaths on the Rock Road between Merrion Gates and Booterstown Dart Station.

  • Improve the existing shared cycleway and walkway through Blackrock Park between Booterstown Station and Blackrock.

  • Build a new seafront walkway and cycleway between Blackrock and Seapoint.

In February 2019, €17.5 million of funding was allocated by the NTA for the S2S Booterstown to Dún Laoghaire section.

Design and planning are now well underway, however, the fight does not stop here!

Further negotiation with Irish Rail is needed to ensure the S2S is incorporated into their coastal protection works on the Dublin-Rosslare railway line.

With your vote, I can remain an effective voice for delivery of the S2S project.
